Say hello to the Most Curious Paola De Paola Photography!

We are delighted to introduce you to Paola De Paola, "a photographer, artist and friend all wrapped into one lovely parcel!" according to one of her happy brides. We couldn't agree more. And a massive YAY from us as Paola De Paola Photography will be exhibiting at our London Most Curious show on 7 and 8 March 2015 at The Old Truman Brewery!

Featured on multiple popular wedding blogs (see Paola's Voodoo and Pagan witch inspired shoot on Rock 'n' Roll Bride's blog here) you can see why she is the chosen photographer for so many creativity loving couples.

Paola has always been a passionate artist. She is a multilingual wedding and same sex wedding photographer. After her degree in Fine Art, she worked as a professional photographer for music magazines and record companies.

She subsequently moved on to work for Getty Images as a high end celebrities digital retoucher, where she was able to build a very deep understanding of the photographic industry. Fifteen years experience with Getty UK has proved invaluable and out of that Paola De Paola Weddings was born.

Paola’s creativity, professionalism, friendly and caring nature will help you to relax and enjoy the most magical (and nerve-racking) day of your life.

And the Most Curious thing about Paola De Paola?

Well it must be her name of course! Ooh that and the fact that she has 5 (yes 5!) gorgeous children AND the most beautiful book of portraits illustrating motherhood (Madonne) in the British Library. Go girl power!

So make sure you come and chat to Paola about your wedding plans at our show - get your tickets here now!

Most Curious London loves...Little Bear Cakery!

We love the raw directional look that wedding cakes and favours have taken in the last few years, with designers scrapping the traditional notion of pretty and going a little bit wild and getting back to nature. Leading this field and fast becoming East London's alternative cake decorator is Clare Margary of Little Bear Cakery.

Clare is the creator of the most curious and beautiful bespoke wedding cakes, dessert tables and quirky favours. A chef trained in Professional Cookery and Patisserie & Confectionary, Clare has worked in many areas of the catering industry, from hotels and restaurants to corporate fine-dining.

In 2014 Clare was selected from thousands of applicants to make the final shortlist of Triumph's "Women in Making" competition. The competition was aimed at a celebration of female creativity and enterprise with a judging panel of elite designers and female entrepreneurs.

All Little Bear Cakery's wedding cakes are designed on a bespoke basis taking into account the venue, colour scheme, flowers, dress - basically anything and everything you want to ensure that your cake is completely unique to you and your special day. So you can be as tradish or alternative as you like - with Clare to guide you on the hottest trends and the most 'you' design.

In addition Clare is also planning her own wedding this year and so understands the process that her couples go through. She knows how daunting it can be when you start to plan a wedding but says wedding fairs such as Most Curious give you that essential hands on interaction with suppliers, allowing you to easily ask any relevant questions face-to-face. She likes to arrange a personal consultation with each client to talk through every aspect of their wedding and having established good connections in the wedding industry Clare is also able to recommend other suppliers or avenues to explore.

New for 2015, Little Bear Cakery are delighted to be teaming up with the very talented Westwood Design to offer fully styled dessert tables with a difference. They wanted to steer away from the stereotypical 'pretty' vintage styling that has been used tirelessly in recent years and offer an alternative approach. Incorporating influences from still life painting, nature and a bygone industrial age, they will provide an edible installation to add the WOW-factor to your wedding or event. Check out the wonderful styled shoot they did which was featured on Love My Dress, we love how moody and atmospheric it is.

And what is the Most Curious thing about Little Bear Cakery?
Aha! Clare is a lover of the 3 Fs...feather, flora and fauna. She incorporates these elements into her quirky and beautiful designs and loves experimenting with different materials and textures as well as drawing inspiration from fashion, wedding and lifestyle trends.
Taste is extremely important to Clare and so only the finest responsibly sourced ingredients are used in Little Bear Cakery products. She uses free-range eggs, Callebaut Belgian chocolate, real vailla seed scraped fresh from the pod as well as luxury preserves and curds.

With her pastry chef background, she loves experimenting with different flavour combinations and has compiled a menu of 15 choices for her wedding cakes - ranging from Classic Victoria to Perfumed Pistachio and Rose. Clare's attention to detail also earned her a gold star in the Great Taste Award in 2013. You can check out their mouth-watering menu here ...yuuuuuummmm!
Make sure you grab your tickets to see more of Little Bear Cakery's alternative and quirky cake design at our London show in the Old Truman Brewery on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March.

Magical flowers by the flower bird

'Quirky, beautiful flowers...with soul'.

Yep, Most Curious agrees this pretty much sums up the work of Sarah Williams, aka the flower bird and we are delighted that she is exhibiting at our London show on 7 and 8 March 2015.

Based in South London, Sarah has a passion for wedding floristry and, although she can source any blooms for brides, she prefers using fresh, seasonal flowers in her work, to produce natural and contemporary displays. Using seasonal flowers is a top tip for getting the best price for them too!

Her instinctive style is to follow nature, using lots of texture and foliage. She always likes to include some hidden detail, enticing people to look a little further with her flowers and take pleasure in discovering something they may not have spotted at first glance.

In terms of trends, she tries not to follow them! For Sarah, an important aspect of her role is to match her flowers to her client and work out what will suit them, regardless of fashion. Every bride is different, and her flowers should reflect that as much as every other aspect of her wedding. Nothing gives Sarah more pleasure than the smile on a bride's face when she first sees her bouquet and she knows she has got it right!

One of those happy brides was Fashion Designer Joelle Reeves, whose wedding was featured on Love My Dress and was one of Annabel's favourites, with photographs that really have that WOW factor.  Check it out here and you will see what she means!

Sarah's love of flowers is evident and she is constantly looking for new and inspirational ideas she can incorporate into her work, and so in September 2014 she attended the McQueens 4 week vocational floristry course. The course was amazing and she came away feeling even more passionate, brimming with new ideas and enthusiasm.

And what is the Most Curious thing about the flower bird?

Sarah always takes her clients for a flying visit around New Covent Garden Flower market, so she knows exactly what they have in mind.

We think this is a really lovely idea and sensible too. Many couples may not know what they want until they see it and the flower market is the best place to be inspired.

So, come and meet Sarah, see her beautiful creations and chat through your wedding flower ideas.

Most Curious introduces Katya Katya Shehurina

BOOM!! We are seeing in 2015 with a huge bang in our build up to our London Most Curious show on 7 and 8 March 2015 at the Old Truman Brewery.

This year has seen an unprecedented number of unique bridal wear designers apply and we are delighted to introduce you to one of our exhibitors - London-based modern vintage style bridal label, KATYA KATYA SHEHURINA.

KKSh-Alexis-400x600

Often inspired by the 1920s, the KATYA KATYA SHEHURINA brand primarily focuses on bridal and evening wear.

Her collections can be characterised as exclusively feminine and uniquely designed with most garments being hand made. Her creations can be distinctively recognised by several key attributes, such as having a special vintage and delicate feel, but at the same time remaining highly versatile and practical.

The dress featured above is one of several 'blue additions' to the existing ‘Feather’ bridal collection and are all inspired by nature, particularly crisp blue skies and lake foam. Beautiful!

And what is the Most Curious thing about KATYA KATYA SHEHURINA?

Most of the dresses are 2in1, which means they come with detached slip that can be created in a variety of colours. So brides can get married in ivory and then change into a colourful slip for the party later. We LOVE this idea!

So come and see the dresses in action on our catwalk - click here to buy tickets to our London and Norwich shows!
