Introducing Our Most Curious Real Life Brides!

Our Most Curious Wedding Fair Fashion Shows always go down a storm, and this time our Norwich show has a twist - some of our beautiful models are real life brides to be!  Wearing gorgeous vintage dresses from Vintage Deli, accessories by Mystic Magic and Argentum, our brides to be are going to be getting their finest strut on, as well as getting in some wedding-dress practise for the big day! The first fashion show featuring our gorgeous real life B2B's is at 12pm sharp, and our bridalNEXT! show, featuring our up and coming talent is at 1pm, with the contest winner announced at 2pm (you can see a full running order for the day on our facebook page).

We asked our betrothed beauties for the lowdown on their imminent nuptials, their wedding plans and how it all came to be....

SOPHIE O'ROURKE engaged to CHRIS WATKINS
When's the big day?
August 2014, with a bit of luck and finger crossing!
Tell us how you got engaged.
On his birthday Chris lured me to the Sealife centre under the guise of it being a birthday treat for himself - what I didn’t know is that he’d been to visit them a month before to set his proposal up! We were allowed in before anyone else so we had the place to ourselves and he proposed to me in the shark tunnel (I love sharks) and then they let us feed the sharks afterwards as a special birthday/engagement treat. I cried like a massive girl!
Describe your wedding plans in 5 words.
Quirky, colourful, origami, sealife, hectic!

SIOFRA CONNOR engaged to PETE BEACOCK
When's the big day?
We haven't set a date yet as we've only been engaged for about a month. Hopefully sometime in 2014.
Tell us how you got engaged.
It's a long story involving a trip to the dump on our 13 year anniversary, a broken down car and lots of rain - basically the car broke down at the dump and we were just talking about things and decided it would be a good idea!
Describe your wedding plans in 5 words.
A geeky vintage hippy party.

KATE COLLISON engaged to WILL GATES
When's the big day?
The 15th of June this year
Tell us how you got engaged.
Will was my first 'serious' boyfriend back when we were 17 and 16 and at 6th form. I moved to London, we split. 20 years later, I found our names written in a visitors book in a church near where I grew up whilst on a visit to my parents. On a whim I copied down his address and sent him a card and in December 2011 he took me back to the church and proposed on one knee in the middle of the path (having taken me to the wrong church first of all!)
Describe your wedding plans in 5 words.
Chaotic, confused and last minute!

HANNA FLEUR PRESTON engaged to BURT BIRCHAM
When's the big day?
2014 - exact date TBC.
Tell us how you got engaged.
After 3 years of believing he would never marry me EVER!! It was on the 14th December after a lovely meal at The Last - he did it down by the river and I didn't believe him so got down on his knee twice! Poor lad.
Describe your wedding plans in 5 words.
Ethereal, simple, fun, natural and country. I hope anyways!

JULYANA NASSAR RUMSEY 'officially married' to SKY VIKER-RUMSEY now planning the Brazilian party!
When's the big day? ( And when was the big day!)
Our English wedding was the 20/09/2012 - and our Brazilian wedding is going to be late 2014.
Tell us how you got engaged.
I met Sky randomly in Brazil 2 years ago and we were 'just friends' until a few days before Sky had to return to the UK.  We carried on being good friends (God bless the internet!) until I decided to come to England on holiday to meet him one year later - we got together and as soon as I returned to Brazil we decided to get married. He went to Brazil intending to propose to me but he, as clumsy as he is, hadn't got a ring. I moved to the UK a few months later after the "non-proposal" episode - he took me to the beach, waited for me to go swimming and as I was leaving the water he went down onto one knee in his very clumsy but cute way and proposed. With a ring.
Describe your wedding plans in 5 words.
Farm + white tent + barbecue + music + sunset

We are SO excited that these fabulous gals will be on stage for our Norwich Fair - we think they perfectly represent the quintessential Most Curious Bride - doing their big days their way with bags of style. Thanks guys, see you on the catwalk!

bridalNEXT! ~ Meet The Judges - Katy Coe of Vintage Deli

Our next judge is the one and only Katy Coe, founder of renowned vintage store (and favourite of none other than Vogue magazine) Vintage Deli. With a fascination with beautiful vintage fashion, the fashion world as a whole, and a penchant for glamour and dressing up, Katy began her boutique to share with others her passion, and Vintage Deli houses a handpicked selection of the very finest ingredients which are beautifully aged for your wardrobe. A true advocate of local talent, Katy is often involved in Norfolk fashion events and photoshoots, as well as offering a styling service for red carpet events, films, photoshoots and more. One multi talented gal or what!

As part of the prize, we are excited to say that Vintage Deli will be stocking pieces from both accessories and dresses from the winners of bridalNEXT!, which is a truly amazing platform for our winning talent. We've taken time out with Katy to get the lowdown on what she's loving, looking for and the plans for her very own 2013 wedding...

Who or what is your biggest fashion inspiration and why?
I've finally just watched the documentary Grey Gardens and I would say playing dress up is daily occurrence at my house. My mum's 60's dresses was where it all started - and my obsession with well tailored clothes with an edge began. One dress in particular has always remained my key player: a slim fitting turquoise dress that sits just above the knee. I found her nestling at the back of my mum's wardrobe 15 years ago. She rocks and I still wear her. It's true that some simple, staple pieces will last you a lifetime - despite flights of fancy in between!

What will you be looking for to make your decision for this year's winner?
I'll be looking for someone who isn't afraid to lead and who doesn't follow. I'm always open minded, so I won't know it until I see it.

What don't you want to see?
I don't have any set ideas of what I don't want to see - I just don't want to see anything dull or too safe!

Are you excited to have the winners work in your store?
Very excited! I am always thrilled to help support up and coming creative talent.

You have just moved premises, where are you now and do you have wedding dresses?
We open at Drove Orchards in Thornham at the end of May. Set in a beautiful apple orchards on the edge of the marshes, it's the perfect place to take Vintage Deli. And Wedding Dresses - oh yes, we have over 50 dating all the way back to the 1920s.

You are getting married this year! We MUST know more!
Yes, I am indeed getting married this June. I'm definately no bridezilla, and I want a relaxed, informal affair that really goes back to (beautiful) basics. Simple yet effective is my ethos. A little impulsive so whatever takes my fancy at the time - I'm being very vague I know! For style, think Victorian farmer meets new wave harvest festival - lots of natural light, then tea lights on water for nightfall. And I'm definitely not afraid of a hay bale or two! The music will definitely play a key role, and we are planning an eclectic mix of folk acoustic, rock n roll, dirty bass, and we will finish with rustic chill out!

Eeek! We think you'll agree Curio's that that sounds RIGHT up our street! You'll also be able to peruse a beautiful selection of Vintage Deli goods on the day as they will be exhibiting too - so vintage loving brides, you know where to go!
